The Allentown Village Society (AVS) produces the annual Allentown Art Festival, provides scholarships to local art students, and supports local cultural organizations. Scholarships are a major result of the work of AVS, with proceeds from the annual festival providing aid to many local art students. These awards are given to encourage and support post secondary studies in art and a career in visual art or art education. The AVS also donates a minimum of $4,000 to NYSSA for Erie County students in grades 8-12. AVS is proud of the talent and dedication found in local students and will continue to encourage and support them.
Each year, AVS offers a minimum of four scholarships, which are awarded to high school seniors who attend Buffalo/Erie County public, private or parochial schools and who have been accepted to post secondary schools in an arts study program. The awards are granted in an amount of at least $1,000 per year for the first year of study and upon re-application, These recipients may qualify for subsequent college scholarships.
